Margate Museum was opened by the Friends of the Margate Museum on the 28th and 30th May 2011! The Meltdown was in full swing on Monday with thousands of motorbikes and bikers invading the streets of Margate! It really was a fantastic sight. In conjunction with this John Simms displayed his memorabilia upstairs in the Museum. We had an excellent visitor numbers over the two days totalling 531.
We are delighted that we have also been included in two local papers following the Meltdown opening! The Thanet Gazette on June 3rd in the article “Bikers Meltdown in weekend sun” featured an excellent photograph of some bikers locked behind bars in the Museum’s gaol. Look out also for Thanet Times article on 7th June “Museum relives the seaside holiday heyday”! Brilliant article and photographs!
